Follow simple multiple-step written instructions (e.g., how to assemble a product or play a board game).
The ability to read and decode written instructions. The student must also be able to retain information to follow through with instructions.

Learning Tips

Talk to your child about real world examples of when it is very important to follow written instructions to get a desired outcome. Following recipes, playing games, assembling furniture, etc. Ask your child why it would be beneficial to know how to read and follow instructions. Talk about what would happen in these examples if instructions were not followed correctly.

Go on the internet and find a new game that your family can play together. Tell have your child read the instructions and tell them that they will be in charge of facilitating the game and teaching the entire family to play!

Have your child cook or bake with you. Find a new recipe online and go through the instructions together allow your child to follow the instructions when done reading.

Have your child help with assembling a household item. Have them read instructions and participate with putting together whenever possible.

Play games with your child that requires them to listen to instructions carefully. Simon Says is a great and fun game that require children to listen carefully to instructions.
